Knauf Gypsum has launched BaseCote PRO in Australia, a new base jointing compound developed in response to customer feedback.

Available through Knauf Fulfilment Centres and distributor partners, BaseCote PRO simplifies Knauf’s previous BaseCote offering from three products to two new working-time variants: BaseCote PRO 50 and BaseCote PRO 75. The new formulation gives contractors greater flexibility to choose the product that best suits their preferred application method, working time and site conditions.

The compound can be mixed to a thinner or thicker consistency for hand trowel application or automatic box and tape systems. The new formulation also delivers high bond strength, improved performance in hotter conditions, predictable set times, smooth trowelling and clean sanding.

As the foundation of the Knauf plasterboard finishing system, BaseCote PRO supports each stage of the jointing process, from base coat through to finishing coat.

Mike Fitzgerald, sales and marketing director for Knauf Gypsum in Australia, said it reflects the company’s commitment to developing products that respond directly to customer needs.

“Our customers told us they wanted a base compound that delivered the workability and consistency they needed across different application methods and site conditions. BaseCote PRO is a direct response to that feedback,” said Fitzgerald.

“Whether contractors prefer a thinner or thicker mix, or apply by hand or machine, BaseCote PRO delivers the flexibility and reliable performance they expect on site.”

John Yin of Hume Building Products said early customer feedback has been positive.

“Contractors have responded particularly well to its consistency and workability, and we’re confident it will become an important addition to our compounds offering,” said Yin.

Where possible, Knauf has applied the same simplified approach across its compounds portfolio. The Cornice Adhesive range has also been streamlined to 50 and 75-minute working-time variants.

“We’ve simplified our compounds range to make product selection easier for distributors, resellers and contractors, while maintaining the performance our customers rely on,” said Fitzgerald.
