Mirvac and M&G Real Estate have unveiled the refurbished lobby and new amenities at 400 George Street in Sydney’s CBD.

The works form part of a targeted repositioning of the 30-storey, 50,000-square-metre office building to improve the customer experience, connectivity and workplace amenity.

The refurbishment includes a reimagined ground-floor lobby with concierge services, a new café and an expanded food and beverage offering.

A new through-site link improves pedestrian movement between George Street, Sydney Arcade and Pitt Street Mall, while shared meeting spaces, a wellness facility and upgraded end-of-trip amenities support tenant flexibility and wellbeing.

Mirvac chief asset management officer Victoria Tavendale said the works represent an investment in the experience offered throughout the building.

“400 George Street is a strong example of how we’re investing in the customer experience from the ground up,” said Tavendale. “This transformation has created a more welcoming and connected workplace, with high-quality amenity and shared spaces that support collaboration, wellbeing and productivity.”

A digital artwork titled WADHA GWIYAALA NANGU (Where the Stingrays Rest) will also be unveiled in the lobby. Designed by Jerrinja and Djirringanj, Yuin artist Aaron William Kennedy, the artwork explores the connection between Sydney Harbour and the Gadigal people and is intended to strengthen the building’s connection to Country. Additional bespoke artworks have been installed in the meeting rooms and at the King Street entrance.

M&G Real Estate head of Australia Alex Banzic said the company is pleased to support the continued transformation of 400 George Street as a long-term co-owner of the Sydney CBD asset.

“The investment reflects our focus on high-quality, resilient workplaces that continue to evolve with the needs of occupiers, while enhancing the everyday experience for customers and visitors,” said Banzic.

More than 10,000 square metres of new leasing commitments have been secured at the building over the past 12 months. New and incoming tenants include Databricks, Gilchrist Connell, DoorDash, The Executive Centre, Beca, Veeva Systems, The Grand Café and Harvey’s Hot Sandwiches.

A new café and expanded food and beverage offering add to the building’s upgraded workplace amenity.

The Executive Centre regional director for Australia Robert How said the company selected 400 George Street for its latest Sydney location because of the investment in the property, including its transformed lobby, wellness amenities and end-of-trip facilities.

“Combined with its prime CBD location and outstanding connectivity, it provides the ideal setting for The Executive Centre to deliver our premium flexible workspace experience, where our signature hospitality and design excellence create an exceptional environment for our members and their guests,” said How.

Tavendale said the leasing activity demonstrates continued demand for well-located workplaces offering amenity, connectivity and environments designed to support productivity.
