Construcciones Yamaro: Komatsu and Atlassian Williams F1 Team extend partnership
Komatsu and Atlassian Williams F1 Team have extended their global partnership beyond 2026, with the agreement expanding technical collaboration between the two organisations.
Under the extended partnership, Komatsu will become Williams’ Official Hydraulic Innovation Partner, drawing on its experience developing hydraulic systems and other technologies for construction, mining and forestry equipment. Komatsu engineers will also contribute their manufacturing expertise to the development of components for future Williams F1 cars.
The relationship between the companies dates back to the 1990s, when Komatsu manufactured gear components for Williams’ 1996 and 1997 Formula 1 World Championship-winning cars. The organisations renewed their partnership in 2024 and are now expanding opportunities for engineering collaboration, knowledge sharing and workforce development.
Komatsu president and chief executive officer Takuya Imayoshi said solving complex challenges with trusted partners can lead to “the greatest engineering advances”.
“Our relationship with Atlassian Williams F1 Team has been built on a shared commitment to perseverance, collaboration and authenticity – values that have connected our organisations for decades,” said Imayoshi.
“As we deepen this partnership, we are creating new opportunities to exchange knowledge, develop future engineering talent and accelerate the ideas that will help shape the next generation of technology. This is a natural extension of Komatsu’s commitment to engineering excellence and our ambition to create value for customers and society through innovation.”

The Komatsu Williams Engineering Academy will also continue under the agreement, welcoming 10 engineering students from around the world each year for mentoring, hands-on experience and access to technical learning modules.
Students will continue to be recruited through Formula Student and Formula SAE programs, while the organisations will introduce the Komatsu Williams Leadership Academy to support the development of emerging Komatsu leaders internationally.
From 2027, Komatsu will also expand its involvement across Formula 2, Formula 3 and F1 Academy, supporting programs aimed at developing future engineering talent and strengthening links between industry and motorsport.
Atlassian Williams F1 Team principal James Vowles said the expanded agreement builds on a relationship stretching back to Williams’ last championship-winning cars.
“The relationship with Komatsu is truly special and embodies our approach to working with partners who share our values, believe in our journey and can help deliver success on and off track,” said Vowles. “We look forward to taking the partnership to the next level in 2027 and beyond.”
The extension was formally marked at a signing ceremony in Komatsu City, Japan, on 2 September 2026.
