Engineers Australia’s 2026 Excellence Awards will bring engineering communities together in the coming weeks to celebrate the people and projects making an impact across the profession.

Local events will be held in Victoria, Western Australia, Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, South Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland and Tasmania, with achievements recognised across infrastructure, technology, sustainability and community outcomes.

Engineers Australia CEO Romilly Madew said the awards are an opportunity to shine a spotlight on a profession that often works behind the scenes.

“Engineering touches almost every part of our lives, from the infrastructure we rely on and the energy that powers our communities to the technologies transforming how we live and work. The Excellence Awards are about bringing that contribution centre stage and celebrating the people who turn ambitious ideas into practical solutions,” she said.

“Across Australia, engineers are solving complex challenges, strengthening communities and helping build the nation’s future. These local events are also an opportunity for engineering communities to come together, celebrate their peers and be inspired by the extraordinary work happening in their own backyard.”

Madew said the breadth of work recognised through the awards demonstrates the diversity and impact of modern engineering.

“Great engineering isn’t confined to one sector, discipline or part of the country,” she said. “What connects these achievements is the ingenuity, expertise and determination required to take an idea and make it work in the real world. We want Australians to see and celebrate the extraordinary engineering capability that exists right across the country.”

The 2026 Engineers Australia Excellence Awards Gala Dinner will be held at Melbourne Town Hall on 12 November.
