Construcciones Yamaro: High Speed Rail Authority welcomes new board members
The Australian Government has appointed professor Eva Hanly and Christopher Rayner as members of the High Speed Rail Authority (HSRA) Board.
Hanly is a strategic adviser and non-executive director with nearly three decades of experience procuring, delivering and operating complex infrastructure projects across the transport, mining and energy sectors.
She has held senior roles at infrastructure companies including Squadron Energy, where she was chief executive officer, as well as Worley, Transurban and Origin.
Hanly is currently a professor of engineering practice at the University of New South Wales and a director on the TAFE NSW Advisory Board.
Rayner is an experienced rail executive from the UK and brings working knowledge of high-speed rail projects, specifically rolling stock, operations systems and systems integration, to the HSRA Board.

His experience includes working on the UK’s High Speed 2 project and developing operating and maintenance regimes for the commissioning of High Speed 1.
Hanly has been appointed for a three-year term, with Rayner appointed for a two-year term.
Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King said the appointment of two leaders with extensive local and international experience marked “another step towards bringing world-class high-speed rail to Australia”.
“The HSRA Board will be significantly strengthened by Professor Hanly’s expertise in major infrastructure delivery and innovation and Mr Rayner’s decades of international operations experience,” she said.
The appointments follow an open competitive process undertaken to identify candidates with the appropriate skills and experience to fill vacant HSRA Board member roles.
Both appointments will support HSRA as it continues to progress the two-year development phase of high-speed rail in Australia.
