More than 30 Coates team members and supporters have taken on Sydney’s steepest street as part of this year’s Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn to raise funds for children’s healthcare.

Marking its 25-year milestone, the event turned Mosman’s 420-metre Awaba Street climb into a show of community spirit, with participants braving brief rain showers. Walkers, joggers and runners of all abilities took part, helping raise funds in support of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation’s mission to provide lifesaving paediatric medical equipment and healthcare initiatives to 515 hospitals and health services across Australia.

A long-time supporter, Coates fielded teams across multiple categories, including the ‘No Burn’ Walk presented by Coates, a non-competitive option for those who prefer to walk the course.

The company also contributed $92,000 worth of hire equipment, including generators, crowd control barriers and site amenities.

The Coates Foundation provided a further $21,000 in children’s medical equipment, funding items such as paediatric resuscitation devices, pulse oximeters, milk warmers and neonatal respiratory equipment. These contributions will support healthcare services across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Tasmania and the ACT.

“We’re proud to support the Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn and the impact it continues to have,” said Ben Sullivan, executive general manager East at Coates.

“It’s been part of Coates’ story for more than two decades and shows what’s possible when businesses, communities and charities work together. Our people bring our ‘Care Deeply’ value to life both on the hill and through the support we provide behind the scenes.”

Claire Reaney, CEO and managing director of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, said Coates continues to play a key role in the event’s success.

“We’re incredibly grateful for Coates’ ongoing support of the Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn,” she said. “As both a long-standing race category naming rights sponsor and a key provider of event infrastructure, Coates helps us deliver a safe and inclusive event while enabling us to provide critical paediatric medical equipment to hospitals around Australia.”

The Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn, founded in 2001 by Wallabies legend and event ambassador Phil Kearns, is Sydney’s steepest charity challenge.

The Humpty Dumpty Foundation is one of Coates Foundation’s national partners, alongside the Clontarf Foundation, which supports more than 12,500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across 161 academies. At a regional level, the foundation also supports initiatives such as Seven Telethon (West) and Foodbank (South). Coates also supports the R U OK? organisation.

“Since its launch in 2021, the Coates Foundation has raised more than $2.5 million and contributed hundreds of volunteer hours, helping our people make a practical difference in the communities where we live and work,” said Sullivan.
