Construction is underway on the Noarlunga Heights Super Centre in Adelaide’s south, a $17.5 million redevelopment of the former Bunnings Noarlunga site into a multi-tenant retail destination.

Developed by BWP Trust and delivered in collaboration with FDC Construction & Fitout, Hames Sharley and Tango Project Management, the redevelopment will retain and repurpose the existing 8,800-square-metre warehouse structure. The project will subdivide and extend the building to create five tenancies, delivering a total gross lettable area of 11,226 square metres, representing a more than 25 per cent increase in retail capacity.

By retaining and extending the existing structure, the project embraces adaptive reuse, reducing demolition waste and preserving embodied carbon compared to a full rebuild.

“We’re proud to be working in partnership with BWP Trust and the broader project team to revitalise this prominent site and deliver a contemporary retail destination for the local community,” said Gareth Arentz, general manager for South Australia at FDC Construction & Fitout.

“By retaining and repurposing the existing structure, we’re able to significantly reduce environmental impact while creating a centre that will support local jobs and contribute to long-term economic activity in the region.”

The redevelopment comes as Adelaide’s southern corridor continues to benefit from government and private investment in housing, infrastructure and community development. Once the Noarlunga Heights Super Centre is completed, it will introduce a mix of national retailers including The Good Guys, BCF and Planet Fitness, alongside provision for a food and beverage drive-through tenancy. The development is expected to support over 200 additional retail jobs once operational, in addition to employment generated throughout the construction phase.

“This development represents the next chapter for this site – one defined by renewal and long-term re-investment in the Noarlunga community,” said BWP Trust national development manager Ben Evans. “The new centre will deliver expanded retail choice while activating a well-established location.”

Completion is expected in October 2026.
