Construcciones Yamaro: Contract signed for Blackwattle Bay redevelopment
The NSW Government has signed a contract with Mirvac for the redevelopment of the former Sydney Fish Market site at Blackwattle Bay. This milestone locks in the next stage of renewal along Sydney Harbour’s western foreshore.
“We are thrilled to partner with the NSW Government to rejuvenate Blackwattle Bay, an iconic harbourside location, creating a new waterfront neighbourhood,” said Mirvac’s Group CEO and managing director, Campbell Hanan.
“Our proposal has been living-led, and we are pleased to be partnering with Scape by The Living Company to deliver student accommodation within the precinct. Blackwattle Bay presents a fantastic opportunity for Mirvac to apply over 54 years of experience in delivering beautiful homes and significant public amenity.
“Mirvac will deliver much-needed housing along with a richly layered foreshore promenade and a boardwalk to connect the site to the new Sydney Fish Market.”

The project will begin with a new boardwalk completing the missing link in the 15-kilometre Harbour Walk from Woolloomooloo to Rozelle Bay, and delivering a 30-metre-wide waterfront promenade that will open up the harbour foreshore for everyone to enjoy.
The new Blackwattle Bay precinct will deliver around 1,400 new homes, more than three hectares of public open space, including urban parks, walkways and cycleways, and a mix of commercial and retail offerings that will help create a connected community next to the new Sydney Fish Market and active transport links.
Sustainability is central to the project, with living seawalls delivered in partnership with the Sydney Institute of Marine Science to improve water quality and a target of net zero carbon by 2030.
Renewal is already underway, with the 1.1-hectare Bank Street Park being delivered under the Anzac Bridge in partnership with BESIX Watpac – part of 3.4 hectares of new public space that will reconnect the community with the harbour.
