Construction starts on Osborne Park Hospital expansion

Webuild has commenced construction on the Osborne Park Hospital expansion, a component of the Western Australian Government’s $1.8 billion New Women and Babies Hospital Project.

Located within the Osborne Park Hospital precinct in Stirling, the redevelopment features two key new buildings.

The six-level main clinical building will provide expanded women and newborn inpatient facilities, a mother-baby unit to support the mental health of expectant and new mothers, a family birth centre, obstetrics theatres, a pharmacy and outpatient clinics.

Another four-level building will be constructed on site to house support services for the campus, including a new kitchen, pathology and sterilisation services.

Webuild project director Brendan Sweeney said the project represents a major redevelopment that will integrate directly with the hospital’s existing operations, services and campus circulation.

“This expansion will provide modern healthcare facilities for women, families and newborns, enhancing services and choice, while ensuring continuity of existing hospital operations,” said Sweeney.

Early site activities commenced in 2025, including service identification, diversions and other enabling works to prepare the precinct for major construction.

Over the next six months, planned construction works include further enabling works to maintain continuous hospital operations, along with site clearing, bulk earthworks, piling for the new buildings and the assembly of the project’s first tower crane. A new permanent car park for staff and visitors along Osborne Place will also be constructed.

The Osborne Park Hospital expansion is scheduled for completion in 2029.

The project team extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Peter Bennett, CEO of Clough. Peter was proud to join the team at this event to celebrate the milestone; occasions recognising the hard work and achievements of project teams were moments he truly valued.
