Construcciones Yamaro: Broad Construction chosen for Rockhampton Hospital project
Broad Construction, a subsidiary of CPB Contractors and member of CIMIC Group, has been selected by Queensland Health to construct the new Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Rockhampton Hospital as part of a significant expansion and refurbishment project.
The new Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit building project is being delivered as part of the Queensland Government’s long‐term building replacement strategy within the larger Queensland Health Big Build program.
These works will increase capacity at the hospital to a total of 32 beds, consisting of 25 general acute beds and seven high‐dependency beds.
CIMIC Group executive chairman Juan Santamaria noted that Broad Construction, with its experience in constructing world-class health facilities, is well-suited to contribute to the Queensland Health Big Build.
“This state‐of‐the‐art facility will provide high quality treatment and care to more people in the growing Central Queensland community,” said Santamaria.

Broad Construction general manager Cyril Cahill said the company looks forward to maximising local social and economic benefits through the creation of employment, training and business opportunities.
“Working with Queensland Health, our expert team will prioritise the needs of the hospital staff, patients and community to safely deliver a new mental health facility for the region, while ensuring minimal disruption to the daily operations of the hospital,” said Cahill.
The Rockhampton Hospital Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit project involves the construction of a new 32-bed acute mental health building, the decommissioning of existing high-dependency and low-dependency units, and the refurbishment of the clinical administration and support unit. It also includes the development of staff and visitor parking, co-located therapy spaces and upgrades to support systems. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2026.
