Clough, together with the Waitsia Joint Venture – comprising Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU) as operator and Beach Energy – has achieved Ready for Start-Up (RFSU) for the Waitsia Gas Plant in Western Australia.

The milestone marks a pivotal step in delivering one of Australia’s largest onshore gas developments as the project transitions to production operations. First gas export is expected in the coming weeks, with ramp-up to nameplate capacity to follow.

Designed to provide a stable domestic gas supply for Western Australia while exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) to international markets, the project supports regional energy security and the global transition to cleaner energy.

About the project

Clough was contracted to deliver the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning for the Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2 development, located about 16 kilometres southeast of Dongara and 350 kilometres north of Perth.

Developed in stages, the project includes the construction of the Waitsia Gas Plant, which will increase the output of the Waitsia Gas Field to 280 terajoules per day, including production from the Xyris facility. The development is generating local jobs, supporting businesses and delivering economic benefits for the Mid West region and Western Australia.
