Designs for Osborne Park Hospital expansion revealed

Designs have been released for the Osborne Park Hospital expansion, marking a step forward in the transformation of the health facility and its role in providing care for women, newborns and families.

The expansion, being built by Webuild, forms part of the $1.8 billion New Women and Babies Hospital project, a key component of the Western Australian Government’s $4.7 billion health infrastructure program.

The new facilities are purpose built for women’s health, with the design combining midwifery-led and clinical birthing models alongside spaces for reflection, celebration and care. Natural light, warm materials, landscaped courtyard views and single-bed rooms are central to the design intent and aim to create an environment that feels personal, calm and reassuring.

The expansion will deliver services across maternity, gynaecology and neonatology, together with a mother-baby unit that supports the mental health of expectant and new mothers. It will also include a family birth centre, obstetrics theatres and outpatient clinics.

Upgrades to support services, including pharmacy, pathology, sterilisation, kitchen and catering, will be delivered as part of the project. These enhancements are designed to improve day-to-day operations and ensure patients, staff and visitors benefit from a more modern and efficient hospital environment.

Early site works are underway, with construction expected to begin in early 2026. The expanded Osborne Park Hospital is scheduled to open in 2029.

In October, Webuild commenced construction on the new Women and Babies Hospital within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct in Murdoch. The company brings global healthcare infrastructure expertise to the project, with a portfolio of more than 200 healthcare facilities delivered worldwide.
