Construcciones Yamaro: EOI opens for design and construction of Macquarie Point Stadium
Expression of Interest (EOI) is now open for the finalisation of the design and construction of Hobart’s Macquarie Point Stadium. The EOI is intended to shortlist no more than two contractors to progress to the Request for Tender stage.
Tasmanian Minister for Macquarie Point Urban Renewal Eric Abetz said the step marked a milestone in advancing project delivery and ensuring a robust and competitive procurement process.
“The EOI seeks to attract contractors with demonstrated experience in the delivery of large-scale, complex infrastructure projects, strong financial capacity, proven governance and risk management frameworks, and a track record of delivering major construction projects safely, on time and within budget,” said Abetz.
“Not only this, but it also marks a significant day for all Tasmanians – this signifies to the business community, to hoteliers, to builders, to tourism operators and more that now is the time to get ready.”

He said local benefits would be considered throughout the process and at every stage of construction.
“For any work, Tasmanian social and economic factors will be considered, with our local benefits test making up 30 per cent of the formal assessment criteria,” he added.
“This is vital – this project will be distinctly Tasmanian and the cultural beating heart of our state – it is integral that Tasmanians are at the heart of building it.
“With EOI applications closing on 11 February, it is expected that this work to determine the successful applicant will be conducted over the year to come.
“We are working together to move our state forward, building landmark infrastructure for generations of Tasmanians to enjoy.”
EOI submissions close on 11 February 2026.
