Australian Constructors Association CEO to step down in 2026

The Australian Constructors Association has announced chief executive officer Jon Davies will step down at the end of June 2026, concluding six years in the role.

During Davies’ tenure, the association navigated some of the most challenging market conditions faced by its members, including the COVID pandemic and price escalation. Over that period, the Australian Constructors Association (ACA) initiated the National Construction Strategy, shaped the Industry Blueprint and was an active sponsor of the Culture Standard.

The association funded the creation of the Construction Industry Culture Taskforce, which delivered the Culture Standard, and successfully advocated for its adoption by governments. The ACA has also committed to long-term cultural reform through a landmark pledge focused on increasing female participation and requiring 50 per cent of newly appointed board directors to be women.

ACA president Annabel Crookes said Davies had played a key role in positioning the association as a credible voice for change across the construction sector.

“We thank him for his efforts over the last six years as we have tackled important issues with our stakeholders and put in place key initiatives to improve the sustainability of our industry,” she said.

Davies said leading the ACA through such a transformative period had been a privilege.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together, particularly in building strong, trusted partnerships between government and industry to deliver better outcomes for everyone,” said Davies. “Whilst I step down as ACA CEO, I remain committed to the industry and look forward to continuing to collaborate with the ACA and its members to drive positive change across the construction sector.”

The ACA Board has commenced a process to appoint a new chief executive officer.
