Construcciones Yamaro: Early works commence on $1.1 billion Redcliffe Hospital Expansion

The $1.1 billion expansion and refurbishment of Redcliffe Hospital is progressing, with early works now in motion.

The major redevelopment includes the construction of a nine-storey clinical services building, the addition of 204 new beds, and the expansion of existing services including theatres, emergency, birthing, endoscopy and other clinical and support services, all aimed at providing a bigger and better healthcare facility for the growing Redcliffe community.

Under managing contractor Multiplex Constructions, the project is expected to support more than 2,500 jobs during the construction phase.

Queensland Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services Shannon Fentiman said the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion Program will deliver the infrastructure and beds needed to meet future demand across the Moreton Bay region.

“Our dedicated health workers do an incredible job caring for their community here in Redcliffe, ensuring they receive the best healthcare close to home,” said Minister Fentiman.

“I can’t wait to be back to open the new Morayfield Ambulance Station and Bribie Island Satellite Hospital later this year, which will further strengthen healthcare services for this region.”

The expansion is one of 11 major hospital expansions in delivery by the Queensland Government. In addition to Redcliffe, the government plans to construct three new hospitals in Coomera, Bundaberg and Toowoomba.

The Big Hospital Build will deliver around 2,200 additional beds to Queensland’s hospital system and is the biggest capital investment in health in Queensland’s history.

Premier of Queensland Steven Miles said: “We have more than $14 billion committed to deliver new and expanded hospitals right around the state and are on track to build our critical health workforce by almost 10,000 this term of government.”

“This major expansion will add an extra 204 beds and five new operating theatres to meet the demand of our growing Moreton Bay region.

“We are injecting $2.6 billion into infrastructure upgrades across the region because we know it’s what locals want and need.”

The completion of the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion is expected by late 2028, weather and construction conditions permitting.
