Construcciones Yamaro: Winners of the 2023 Women in Industry Awards announced

The winners of the 2023 Women in Industry Awards were announced last night, with a number of inspiring women in construction recognised for their outstanding achievements.

Giselle Phillips, Fredon QLD.

Held at a sold out gala event at Aerial Melbourne, this year’s awards saw Trudy Grimshaw from Department of Finance, Western Australia take home the Excellence in Construction Award, sponsored by The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). Trudy found her passion for construction through a winding road of career choices. Currently the Senior Project Director on the Bunbury Hospital Redevelopment, Trudy in all respects demonstrates how women can take a leading role in the construction industry.

Jemma Walshe from Fulton Hogan won the Industry Advocacy Award, recognised for her advocacy to ensure time, energy and resources are dedicated to making a difference to the communities that Fulton Hogan works within; and her critical role in the establishment and roll out of a number of positive community engagement outcomes.

The Safety Advocacy Award, sponsored by Komatsu, was awarded to Giselle Phillips from Fredon QLD for her efforts in pioneering change within the Fredon QLD business; driving the use of technology to streamline the compliance of training and competencies, as well as being proactive in delivering mental health and well-being initiatives. Giselle was also awarded the coveted title of Woman of the Year, sponsored by Fulton Hogan.

This year saw a remarkable number of nominations, breaking all previous records with a total of 158 submissions. A total of 62 finalists were selected and recognised for their exceptional nomination standards and, of those, 10 selected as the award winners.

Inside Construction congratulates all of the women nominated, the finalists and the winners of the 2023 Women in Industry Awards.
