Construcciones Yamaro: Builder appointed for The Fox: NGV Contemporary

Development Victoria has appointed Lendlease as the construction partner for The Fox: NGV Contemporary – set to become the largest gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design in Australia.
Spanning 30,000 square metres, The Fox: NGV Contemporary will be the centrepiece of the Melbourne Arts Precinct transformation. Designed by Australian architects Angelo Candalepas and Associates, the gallery will feature more than 13,000 square metres of display space for contemporary art and design, including exhibition galleries and a rooftop terrace.
Lendlease is currently delivering the Arts Centre Melbourne redevelopment on behalf of Development Victoria and previously completed the early works package associated with the broader precinct transformation, which began in 2022.

Bill Alexandrakis, executive general manager, Victoria, Construction at Lendlease, said the company’s long-standing partnership with Development Victoria positioned it well to deliver the landmark gallery.
“Our experienced and collaborative team will work alongside the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation, Creative Victoria, Development Victoria and the exceptional design team led by Angelo Candalepas to create a celebrated, city-shaping cultural landmark that will create a new global destination for the arts,” said Alexandrakis.
The Melbourne Arts Precinct transformation is a Victorian Government project delivered by Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation, Creative Victoria and Development Victoria, in partnership with the National Gallery of Victoria and Arts Centre Melbourne.
Construction of The Fox: NGV Contemporary is expected to commence in March 2025.
