Construcciones Yamaro: Building weather-ready construction projects with KISTERS

Image
KISTERS’ guide to weather impact documentation explores how simple, automated monitoring tools can give site teams a reliable record of on-site conditions. (Image: Chanakon/stock.adobe.com) Unpredictable weather and tightening project margins are forcing construction professionals to rethink what resilience really means. For environmental monitoring solutions provider KISTERS, being resilient is less about enduring disruption and more about preparing for it with evidence. Across Australia, weather events are growing more frequent, localised and costly. Yet when projects grind to a halt, many site teams still struggle to prove that the conditions truly justified a delay. The result? Rejected claims, schedule disputes and profit pressure that could have been avoided with better evidence. “Too many legitimate claims fall over because the documentation just is not defensible,” says Chris Tornatore, business development manager at KISTERS. “Project managers need reliable, site-specifi...

Construcciones Yamaro: Plascorp releases EPDs for PVC-U pressure pipes

Image
Plascorp manufactures PVC-U pressure pipes from a consistent raw material blend extruded across a range of diameters and wall thicknesses. (Image: Plascorp) Supporting Australia’s shift toward lower-carbon, data-driven construction, Plascorp has released Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its PVC-U pressure pipe range. Published through EPD Hub and compliant with EN 15804+A2 and ISO 14025, the declarations provide designers, utilities and civil contractors with third-party-verified insights into the environmental performance of PVC-U pressure pipes manufactured in Australia. As infrastructure delivery faces increasing scrutiny for embodied and operational carbon impacts, transparent product data has become an essential tool for responsible material selection. The new EPDs enable project teams to evaluate lifecycle impacts across raw materials, manufacturing, transport, installation and end-of-life scenarios for the PN6–PN18 pressure pipe range, including both rubber rin...

Construcciones Yamaro: How smarter subcontractor management supports project success

Image
MYOB Acumatica Construction supports integrated subcontractor management, giving project teams real-time visibility. (Image: Vlad/stock.adobe.com) Construction projects across Australia and New Zealand are operating under pressure. Labour shortages, rising material costs and tighter margins mean that even the smallest inefficiencies can have a ripple effect. Yet for many large-scale construction firms, subcontractor management is still being handled with spreadsheets, emails and paper files. At first, these methods might seem manageable. But as projects grow in size and complexity, manual systems introduce hidden costs from compliance risks and invoice disputes to missed deadlines and strained subcontractor relationships. In civic infrastructure, mechanical services and large-scale builds, those inefficiencies don’t just create admin headaches. They put entire projects at risk. The pressure is forcing a shift from reactive processes to tighter control. The hidden costs of manua...

By Melinda Davis, GM of Empowered Women in Trades. Walking into Marvel Stadium on 3 October for the EWIT 2025 Gala Awards and seeing our logo and the words “it takes a village” appear on all the screens was a pinch-me moment for the team. We don’t just talk about the village; it isn’t a made-up concept – it is very much real. The village is at the heart of all we do, and to see them show up with passion and purpose ready to celebrate the everyday heroes we had come to acknowledge was incredible. Melinda Davis, GM of Empowered Women in Trades. Stepping on stage as MC of the EWIT Gala wasn’t just about opening an awards night; it was about welcoming everyone to the village – a community built by good humans, courageous or...

Construcciones Yamaro: Building great construction leaders

Image
Strong leadership helps to drive a stronger industry. (Image: Coetzee/peopleimages.com/stock.adobe.com) Exploring the final chapter of her book, Dr Gretchen Gagel offers advice for construction leaders seeking to elevate their impact. By Dr Gretchen Gagel. I have had such fun sharing the highlights of my book, Building Women Leaders: A Blueprint for Women Thriving in Construction, in this year’s Inside Construction editorials . I am thrilled to know that men are also reading my book, an homage to your care for your own leadership and for the women in our industry. The final portion of my book focuses on how we lead our industry. I believe my peers inducted me into the US National Academy of Construction in 2021 for this very reason: that in addition to my leadership position, I care deeply about our industry and seek out opportunities to contribute. This editorial is a perfect example – three years of taking the time to share my thoughts with you because I care about how we t...

Construcciones Yamaro: Big builds and bold ideas on the Converge Major Projects Stage

Image
A standout of the event was the Major Projects Stage. (Image: Prime Creative Media) If you missed the Major Projects Stage at Converge Expo 2025, Inside Construction has you covered. Excitement filled the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in September as the inaugural Converge Expo 2025 brought together construction innovators and professionals from across Australia. While the event delivered inspiration at every turn, it was the Major Projects Stage that stole the spotlight. Showcasing the people and projects shaping the built environment, the stage provided a platform for industry trailblazers and project leaders to share lessons from the nation’s most ambitious builds and the key themes influencing the sector. After witnessing the energy and engagement of attendees across both days, we knew we had to bring the Major Projects Stage to life in Inside Construction for those who couldn’t be there. The case for wellness in infrastructure The infrastructure const...
