Construcciones Yamaro: New $90 million Eastwood Private Hospital project breaks ground

BESIX Watpac has broken ground on the Eastwood Private Hospital project, marking a major step forward for the South Australian healthcare sector.

The Eastwood Private Hospital project is a six-story development poised to stimulate an estimated $90 million in economic activity. It will feature a six-theatre perioperative floor, a 51-bed ward, a multi-level car park, a café and retail area, and medical services such as imaging and pathology.

The incorporation of high-quality operating theatre facilities is expected not only to reduce surgery waiting times but also to provide patients with a wider range of healthcare options.

Mark Baker, CEO of BESIX Watpac, said the Australian-grown and globally backed company, which this year celebrated 40 years of delivering complex infrastructure in both Australia and New Zealand, was primed to deliver the project.

“Our extensive expertise, collaborative approach and knowledge of the technical and services requirements of health and sciences infrastructure will contribute significantly to the successful delivery of this project,” said Baker.

“We are pleased to include Eastwood Private Hospital as one of the 11 major health infrastructure projects currently being undertaken by BESIX Watpac across Australia.”

Tom Patrick, head of healthcare property and spokesperson for project proponent Barwon Investment Partners, said the hospital is set to open in mid-2025.

The project is projected to reach a peak workforce of 140 and is targeting a 4 Star Green Star rating.

BESIX Watpac is also constructing strategically important infrastructure for the Department of Defence, as well as the GPO Hotel Marriott on King William Street. In recent years, the company successfully completed a substantial expansion and refurbishment of Adelaide Airport’s existing terminal, increasing its capacity to accommodate projected passenger growth over the next ten years.
