Bentley Systems today announced the winners of the 2023 Going Digital Awards in Infrastructure, a program that honours the extraordinary work of Bentley software users advancing infrastructure design, construction and operations throughout the world. Finalists presented their projects at the 2023 Year in Infrastructure and Going Digital Awards event in Singapore before global press and 12 independent jury panels. The jurors determined the winners of the 12 award categories from 36 finalists that were shortlisted from over 300 nominations submitted by 235 organisations from 51 countries. A community consultation process for the future expanded Canberra Theatre Centre is now open until 20 November 2023 as part of the project’s planning phase. The expanded Canberra Theatre Centre project, including the new 2,000 seat theatre, is intended to attract more performing artists and shows to Canberra. ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said Canberra has been missing out on shows and performers due to the small size and age of its current venues. “This project can change that,” said Minister Barr. “It will also drive more tourist activity in the city and support our retail and hospitality businesses, and night time economy.” Community consultation for the Canberra Theatre Centre, which is being designed to cater for audiences for the next 50 plus years, will contribute to design development and helps the design team to understand what people want from their live performance experiences. BESIX Watpac has commemorated a milestone with the Topping Out Ceremony for the GPO Hotel Marriott project in Adelaide. The final structural element was recently positioned atop the $200 million development, which is on track for completion in the first half of 2024. BESIX Watpac CEO Mark Baker praised the entire project team, including consultants and subcontractors, for their dedication to achieving the milestone. “The GPO Hotel Marriott project is a great demonstration of our unwavering commitment to excellence and ability to work around existing structures,” said Baker. BMD has welcomed Brisbane Lions AFLW player Lily Postlethwaite to its team as part of the company’s Athlete Employment program . The Athlete Employment program supports women athletes by providing opportunities for them to pursue both their sporting career and a career off-field through flexible work. The program aligns with the Australian Women in Sport Advisory Group’s recommendation that corporates offer greater flexible working arrangements to engage more women in sport and create a level playing field. Victoria’s Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ingrid Stitt has announced the state will invest more than $16 million to continue supporting community organisations through the Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund . Organisations and community groups can apply for grants of up to $400,000 to build or upgrade facilities, as well as Multicultural Museums feasibility study funding for research to establish multicultural museums. Dedicated funds are also available for Victoria’s Chinese, Greek, Indian, Italian, Islamic and Lebanese communities. Minister Stitt said the Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund is helping more Victorians to provide safe and modern facilities. “This flagship grant program continues to reflect our support and investment in the future of multicultural community infrastructure and strengthens the communities that contribute so much to our state,” said Minister Stitt.
