Construcciones Yamaro: Victorian Government reveals education precinct designs

The Victorian Government has unveiled designs for the Truganina North Education Precinct in Melbourne’s City of Wyndham.

Designs for the precinct, which include Truganina North Secondary School (interim name) and Truganina North Primary School (interim name), along with a new co-located kindergarten, were revealed by Victoria’s Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins and Minister for Early Childhood and Pre-Prep Ingrid Stitt earlier this week.

“We’re delivering unprecedented investment in the first years of our children’s education, while making the transition to school that much easier for our little ones, ensuring every Victorian child gets the best start,” said Minister Stitt.

The schools will offer enrolment for up to 2,050 students between them and are among 14 new Victorian schools opening in 2024.

“We’re ensuring students and teachers across the state have the 21st century modern learning facilities they need, just like these much-needed schools and kindergarten in Truganina, enabling them to reach their full potential,” she added.

Truganina North Primary School (interim name) will be able to enrol up to 650 Prep to Grade 6 students when it opens on day one of Term 1 in 2024. It will include an administration and library building, three learning neighbourhoods and a community hub, with a co-located kindergarten offering places for 66 children which will also open from Term 1 in 2024.

Located in Everton Road, Truganina North Secondary School (interim name) junior campus will be able to enrol up to 600 students and will include an administration and library building, two learning neighbourhoods, an arts and technology building, science and technology building and a community hub.

The senior campus in Morris Road will be able to enrol up to 800 senior students and will include an administration building, library, learning neighbourhood, technology and science buildings and a community hub.

The secondary school will open to Year 7 (junior campus) and Year 10 (senior campus) students in its first year, and progress by year level thereafter.

Victoria’s Member for Laverton Sarah Connolly said having all school years within the same precinct will be positive for local communities.

“We’re making sure that families living in Truganina North have access to a kindergarten, a primary school and a secondary school all located at the same site, making those morning drop-offs and afternoon pickups that much easier,” added Connolly.

In the Victorian Budget 2021/22, Truganina North Secondary School (interim name) shared in $491.565 million allocated for new schools and received a further $41.178 million from the Victorian Budget 2022/23 for the next stage of construction.

Truganina North Primary School (interim name) shared in $527.233 million allocated for new schools in the Victorian Budget 2022/23, while the kindergarten shared in $371 million provided in the Victorian Budget 2019/20 for Three-Year-Old Kindergarten capital funding, delivered over five years.
