Construcciones Yamaro: The Star Gold Coast’s second tower hits construction milestone
The second 65-storey, $400 million tourism tower at The Star Gold Coast is well underway, with the top of the 200 room, 5-star hotel now completed to level 21.
Multiplex commenced construction of the project in early 2021, with works now rapidly progressing.
Silas Croucher, Project Director of Destination Gold Coast Consortium is delivering the hotel and apartments tower as part of The Star’s $2 billion masterplan. He said the concrete pour of level 21 represents completion of the first third of the tower structure.
“The top out of the hotel is a significant construction marker as the vertical build continues and we remain on track for an end of 2024 completion,” Mr Croucher said. “The ongoing rise of the 200-metre high tower will be noticeable now as we see the structure rising at approximately one level per week.”
Mr Croucher said the glass façade installation and internal fit-out of the hotel is also underway, while 475 new car park spaces will soon be opened for public use.
The new five-star hotel will sit above the six-level podium connecting directly to The Star Gold Coast’s other resort offerings via a continuation of the ground level boardwalk, a level three retail promenade and the recreation deck.
All 437 of the one, two and three-bedroom residential apartments in the second tower have been sold and are unconditional.
The Star Gold Coast General Manager Hotel and Residences Mark Hodge said he is proud of the ongoing jobs that the project has created.
“We have mapped out a visionary masterplan and are expanding as a world-class tourism and entertainment destination in one of Australia’s biggest tourism markets,” Mr Hodge said. “There has been great demand for the new The Star Residences and Dorsett Hotel since opening.”
