Construcciones Yamaro: Aramex warehouse to be built at new Brisbane Airport logistics hub

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is set to undertake what it claims to be the largest industrial project in the airport’s history.

As part of its Airport Industrial Park development, BAC will deliver a new 26,120-square-metre office and warehouse – equivalent in area to around three-and-a-half rugby league fields – for global logistics and delivery company Aramex Australia.

Construction of Aramex’s new facility will kickstart the development of Airport Industrial Park, BAC’s 100-hectare-plus master-planned warehousing, logistics and manufacturing precinct.

Martin Ryan, Brisbane Airport Corporation Executive General Manager Commercial, said securing Aramex as the first anchor tenant within the new industrial precinct demonstrates its attractiveness amongst global brands.

“We are excited to welcome Aramex to launch Airport Industrial Park with us,” he said. “The size of this development highlights the potential for logistics and industrial development at Brisbane Airport at scale.”

“With freight and logistics industries becoming increasingly important, the unrivalled transport links of Brisbane Airport offer an ideal home for companies providing these essential services.”

Development of the Aramex facility will involve up to 1,500 workers during the construction phase. It will include a warehouse with approximately 25,070-square-metres of net lettable area (NLA), an office of 1,050-square-metres NLA and 157 car parking bays and racks for 14 bicycles, plus end-of-trip facilities. There will be space for pallet racking, freight sortation and a customer collection zone. The development will also feature approximately 1,000-kilowatt of commercial rooftop solar panels.

Aramex Brisbane General Manager, Jacob Marsters said the new Brisbane facility would boost their delivery and logistics capability in South East Queensland.

“Brisbane Airport’s direct access to road and air transport means we can deliver our goods even more efficiently to customers,” said Marsters. “In our business, speed and efficiency are critical.”

“That’s why being located at the Brisbane Airport precinct and connected to major arterial roads were key factors in our decision-making.

The Aramex facility is scheduled for completion in 2024. Airport Industrial Park Stage One is under development, with land preparation for subsequent stages underway.
