Construcciones Yamaro: Guiding the way to net zero in road construction
The 19th International Flexible Pavements Conference hosted by the Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA) is less than one week away, set to shine a spotlight on sustainability in road construction.
The conference, slated for October 30 to November 1, 2023, at the Brisbane Convention Exhibition Centre, will gather state road agencies, government officials, industry representatives and road and construction associations, all committed to the common goal of steering the flexible pavement industry toward net zero.
Drawing from a wealth of expertise and insights, conference speakers will address the pivotal pillars of sustainability, including diversity and inclusion, health and safety, technology, and innovation.
AfPA CEO Carlos Rial says the event will provide a platform for much-needed discussions on how to pave the way toward Australia’s roads reaching carbon zero, particularly in the lead-up to Australia’s net-zero emissions target by 2030.

“We are looking forward to welcoming guests from across government and industry, both internationally and domestically, as we work together to build more sustainable roads and infrastructure,” says Rial. “Sustainability extends beyond environmental considerations; it also embraces diversity and inclusion, aiming to create a more equitable and prosperous future for all those engaged in the industry.”
“As we convene, we will explore how these principles can be incorporated into the very fabric of our industry, empowering individuals and strengthening the economy while we chart a course toward a greener industry.”
