Construcciones Yamaro: Builder chosen for $479 million Ryde Hospital Redevelopment
AW Edwards has been selected as the building contractor for the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment, marking a significant milestone in the project’s progress. Construction is slated to commence in mid-2024, ushering in a new era for healthcare infrastructure in the region.
With an investment of $479 million from the NSW Government, the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment aims to deliver a state-of-the-art health facility that will cater to the evolving health demands of the growing Ryde and neighbouring communities.
NSW Minister for Health Ryan Park said he is pleased the redevelopment is moving ahead. He emphasised the project’s potential to reshape healthcare for the local community, delivering the latest facilities and care models to accommodate the area’s growing population.

“This project will expand capacity at the hospital, delivering more adult overnight beds, plus it’ll feature a brand-new ED, ICU, operating theatres, a custom-built ambulatory care centre and a paediatric short stay unit,” said Park.
“This is a major redevelopment which will provide new and enhanced services within a modern, contemporary facility to ensure patients continue to receive the best possible care.”
The project includes the demolition of old buildings, construction of new hospital buildings and refurbishment of existing hospital spaces. Collaborating closely with the contractor, the NSW Government seeks to minimise construction impacts and ensure the hospital remains operational throughout the redevelopment.
NSW Health will ensure that staff, patients and the community are kept informed as works progress.
