Construcciones Yamaro: John Holland to construct new train manufacturing facility in QLD
John Holland is partnering with Downer EDI Limited and the Queensland Government to support train manufacturing through the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program.
On behalf of Downer, John Holland will design, build and commission a new purpose-built train manufacturing facility at Torbanlea in the Fraser Coast region.
David Lehmann, Executive General Manager – Building at John Holland said the company was proud to be leveraging its capabilities in delivering critical infrastructure.
“This new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will become a central hub for train manufacturing in Queensland, and more specifically, the Fraser Coast region,” he said. “We’ll create hundreds of jobs during construction of the facility and drive economic growth, and that’s only the start for this state-shaping program.”
“Our expertise in building the facilities our communities need extends from hospitals and stadiums through to the manufacturing hubs of the future.

The new trains are expected to be delivered in time for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
John Holland General Manager – Building QLD Colin Matthews said John Holland was excited to begin work on an incredibly important project for Queensland.
“This is all about future-proofing Queensland’s manufacturing industry and creating jobs for the future – that’s the power of projects like these,” he said.
“We have a proud partnership with the Queensland Government to deliver essential infrastructure across the state and look forward to working with Downer as this project moves into an exciting new phase.”
Construction on the facility is expected to commence later this year.
