FuturePlace has announced its latest summits focused on the construction sector. In October 2024, the company will host the 2nd Annual Construction Technology Summit and launch the inaugural Construction Procurement Summit on 23 and 24 October, respectively, at Doltone House, Darling Island, Sydney.

These two important events come at a time of unprecedented opportunities and challenges facing the construction industry. The challenges related to declining productivity, skilled labour shortages, rising construction costs and supply chain constraints have been well documented and continue to impact contractor operations daily. However, there are technologies and procurement strategies that can be utilised to mitigate and even overcome some of these challenges and help drive long-term benefits.

The 2nd Annual Construction Technology Summit is a gathering of leaders responsible for evaluating, implementing and maximising the impact of leading-edge technology within their organisations. It will feature plenty of real-life case studies detailing why specific tools and processes were adopted, the challenges encountered, and the tangible results achieved. No matter attendees’ roles, ranks or company maturity, they can be part of the conversation that’s reshaping the landscape of construction technology and empower change within their organisations and across the industry.

“The use of recycled content in various construction materials continues to be a trend, as does low carbon concrete,” said Sally Walkom, general manager for innovation and enablement at John Holland.

“We are getting better data on environmental and community impacts through various technologies. And we are reducing impacts on flora and fauna through digital tools, drones and robotics.”

The following day, the inaugural Construction Procurement Summit will take place. This important and timely industry event will explore how procurement can deliver on its mission of improving profitability, reducing risk and driving decarbonisation, and will highlight the strategies, partnerships and technologies chief procurement officers can use to achieve success.
