Multiplex has broken ground on BLVD, the latest addition to OSK Property’s $3 billion Melbourne Square precinct.

Having previously constructed the first two towers in Stage 1 of Melbourne Square, Multiplex is set to commence construction on the new 74-storey tower in July, with completion anticipated in Q1 2028. This milestone comes just nine months after BLVD’s official launch in October 2023.

Ross Snowball, regional managing director of Victoria and South Australia at Multiplex, expressed excitement about continuing the partnership with OSK Property.

“Multiplex is proud to be partnering with OSK once again on the Melbourne Square precinct, one of Australia’s largest and most exciting development projects,” said Snowball. “After delivering the first two towers, we are excited to deliver the third tower, BLVD – continuing the same community legacy we started back in 2017.”

“Seven years later there is nothing more rewarding than being part of this precinct again, building a residential tower that will enhance our city from the ground up.

“What’s even more special is that some of those original team members will be back building BLVD.”

With over 50 per cent of sales achieved, the commencement of construction on BLVD marks another significant milestone for Melbourne Square. The precinct has already enhanced the Southbank area with a 3,745 square metre park, a full-line Woolworths supermarket, an early learning centre, and a growing range of retail destinations.

BLVD will add 602 residences to Southbank, complete with a range of amenities such as private dining rooms, gyms, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, a spa, a sauna, a golf simulator, entertainment and lounge spaces, and a double-storey co-working area on levels 55 and 56.

Additionally, BLVD will feature carbon-neutral operation-enabled residences, a gas-free design, EV charging stations, a zen garden, and other premium resident amenities. The building is also in pre-registration to pursue WELL Certification, a rating system that certifies a building’s impact on health and wellbeing and demonstrates industry excellence in meeting stringent sustainability goals.

Tan Sri Ong Leong Huat, executive chairman at OSK Group, highlighted the importance of the BLVD groundbreaking for the Melbourne Square precinct. “Commencing construction represents the culmination of team effort between OSK Property and our project partners, and our unwavering commitment to BLVD and the entire Melbourne Square precinct,” he said.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated staff, esteemed project partners, and diligent sales agents for their incredible work across BLVD to date, and are looking forward to seeing this tower come to life.”

City of Melbourne deputy lord mayor Nicholas Reece, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony, called it a monumental moment for the city.

“Melbourne Square homes give residents access to all that we love about Southbank,” said Reece. “Arts institutions that are second to none.”

“Proximity to the central city and to the beach – to the Botanic Gardens and, importantly, to community facilities already enjoyed by those who live in Southbank.

“BLVD will be a transformational development for Melbourne’s CBD, adding critical housing stock to the market as well as important residential and local amenities.”

Multiplex and OSK Property celebrated the groundbreaking with an onsite ceremony attended by key stakeholders, OSK Property personnel and the Multiplex team. The event follows OSK Property’s recent unveiling of ‘Guardian Lion’ by Troy Emery, the development’s newest public art installation set to grace the skies of Melbourne later this year.
