Construcciones Yamaro: John Holland adopts Autodesk Construction Cloud

John Holland has adopted tools from the Autodesk Construction Cloud suite to drive its Digital Construction Strategy 2025 – a framework for investment in digital construction that will increase collaboration, innovation and knowledge.

The initiative aims to build capability within the business and across the industry in a range of digital solutions.

According to Mike Roberts, John Holland’s General Manager of Digital Engineering and Technology, the decision was made to adopt tools from Autodesk’s unified platform due to its comprehensive solutions and extensive architecture, engineering and construction knowledge. “We know that the future of construction is digital – with a workforce that can harness the full potential of new and emerging technologies to support the delivery of projects that transform lives,” says Roberts. “Autodesk Construction Cloud is a game-changer for our construction teams.”

“The platform provides a comprehensive suite of digital tools that enable us to collaborate more effectively and gives us a competitive edge in the market.

“By using digital methods in construction, we foster greater innovation, knowledge sharing, and teamwork across the entire project lifecycle.”

Autodesk Construction Cloud, and specifically Autodesk Build, has been used by John Holland as the digital platform that helped enable the delivery of projects such as the recently completed Sydney Football Stadium.

Roberts says with its advanced features and capabilities, Autodesk Construction Cloud can be a huge asset. “We believe that by upskilling our workforce with digital tools like Autodesk Construction Cloud, we can improve our effectiveness and enhance our digital capabilities, ultimately leading to better project outcomes,” he adds.

“With digital innovation front of mind at John Holland, we have greater confidence in the solutions we provide our teams and clients, allowing us to operate more effectively and modernise the way we work.”

John Holland’s Digital Construction Strategy 2025 comprises four key programs: construction through modern digital methods through technologies such as BIM and Digital Twin; enabling consultants, suppliers and project teams with digital capabilities; finding solutions that leverage digital information; and connecting teams to drive innovation and knowledge sharing.

Sumit Oberoi, Industry Strategist, APAC at Autodesk, says it’s technologies like the Autodesk platform that can help drive productivity in the construction industry by connecting workflows, teams and data at every stage of construction to reduce risk, maximise efficiency and increase profits.

“The industry is seeing many challenges due to labour and materials shortages and rising costs, yet there is a need to deliver more infrastructure and housing than ever,” says Oberoi. “In today’s marketplace, construction companies need to innovate to succeed and John Holland is a great example of this.”

Recently, Adam Plunkett, Group Manager – Business Technology and Planning, Victoria, Australia at John Holland Group featured on Autodesk’s global list of 40 Under 40: Champions of Construction for his work as part of the team driving digital engineering and technologies, including on projects such as the Sydney Football Stadium.
