Armando Iachini: New Tendencies in Sustainable Architecture
Recently, this tendency of working under the parameter of sustainable architecture, also known as
green architecture or eco-architecture has grown significantly.
Its main aim is to
generate all the comfort necessary to live and work under a pleasant
environment but minimizing the impact of the buildings to the environment.
The construction projects that are applied
nowadays are oriented at taking
advantage the best way as possible of the resources, in order to reduce working
costs as well as to diminish the incidence generated due to mankind activities
to the environment.
The construction world has given importance
to buildings that have water-recycling systems, an element that reduces liquid
consumption and maximizes its efficient use by preserving this vital natural
resource.
The
most important element to save water in a household is the use of new technologies that recycle water and
that use rainwater.
It is
estimated that a person uses at least 129 liters of waters per day in a
household; almost the half of the consumption related to personal hygiene
activities.
Beyond
the consciousness level that each one
of us must have about the rational use of natural resources, there are
other measures aimed at saving water.
If the construction companies take into
account that a good part of the water waste is originated in restrooms, a new conception of the construction models
must be considered.
That is how new ideas that allow reducing water waste
may be introduced as well as the installation of showers that reduce the
quantity of water from 20 liters to 10 liters per minute.
In a normal family household, more than 90.000 liters
of water could be saved per year through the prism of the installation of a
mechanical-biological system in order to recycle water.
Nowadays, AquaCycle has
had an important success. It cleans wastewater allowing its ulterior use to
make activities such as washing the clothes and watering the garden.
Every
construction enterprise must
evaluate the methods that will allow them to protect the environment over time.
