The Importance of Green Buildings for Construcciones Yamaro
Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) |
Nowadays, one of the more important concerns is global
warming, referring to the possible destruction of the earth,
which is our only area with the exact necessary characteristics for our
survival. Construcciones Yamaro is aware that every day our
climate is more variable and different, the winters are not as cold and
heat increases and rains can come at any time. Researches in the world show
that pollution spread by humans is growing and, responding to that phenomenon,
the planet is getting hotter and more polluted space.
To Armando Iachini, engineer and CEO of
Construcciones Yamaro, a solution or an important contribution would be
to create structures or buildings as the 'Bosco Verticale' or vertical
Forest, located in
Milan. He claims that the vertical forest located in Milan is a good
role model worldwide. The civilization needs to take that example and
help in the recovery of the ecosystem. He says that trees within the buildings
can help purifying the air of our big cities. Additionally, this type of
designs and green measures are incredible attractive, colorful and, what is
more important, sustainable. All this creates a relaxing environment for those
who live in buildings around the world.
Sustainable Construction |
It is a pair of residential towers in
the Porta Nuova district of Milan, Italy.
They have a height of 110 metres and 76 metres and will
host more than 900 trees (approximately 550 and 350 trees in
the first and second towers respectively) on 8,900 square metres of terraces.
Within the complex is also an 11-story office building; its facade does not
host plants.
The Bosco Verticale was designed
by Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca and Giovanni La Varra. It
also involved input from horticulturalists and botanists. The
building was inaugurated in October 2014.
